Hello? [07 Oct 2006|04:58pm]

satinalien
Still need people to help out with and/or play in a one-shot LARP around Halloween. So far, I've had three people give feedback, only two of which can actually play.

Anyone else?

Welcome to the circus, I think you'll like it here. [04 Oct 2006|08:23pm]

All right, kiddies, here is the situation...

it seems a lot of us would love to do a LARP reunion type thing and we left it there. Reid said he talked to Nathaniel and Old Main is, tragically, reserved for the Peoria Dark Ages LARP that weekend of the 28th. So I suggest we reserve another damn space. There's lots of it on campus. All we need to do is pick it and then ask the LARC very nicely to reserve it. I bet they will.

Options:
a. Aux Gym. A bitch to get, but an amazing space.
b. GDH. Lots of levels, lots of little rooms. And no one can hear us scream...
c. It is possible to reserve rooms in the library (strange, but true). We could use that if we were not going to be loud at all. Or possibly just use it as a place to relocate in game. Secret meetings...oooh...

On a completely different note, it seems I need caffiene.

We have brilliant GMs/STs out there. Cori, Mike, Reid, Lisa, Clint, Wes, just to name a few. And I'm not so bad with a story myself. The idea of the Midnight Circus was broached. I have the tabletop book and am willing to organize a game and a story. If you want this, I need help!

Here is what I need:
a. Someone to talk to the LARC and make sure we have the space.
b. Someone to help me with system. I work wonders with story, not so much with the rock-paper-scissors. So I need a rules lawyer.
c. Volunteers to be part of a NPC troupe. It would be small, but to play pivotal characters.
d. Players! Who wants in? A game can't happen without you!

If we are really going to make this happen, then I need to know who is in and who can help. I'm setting a deadline for helpers - midnight on Friday, October 13th. Two weeks before the game. If you are willing to help, leave a comment letting me know what you're willing to do and what your best email address is for contacting you.

Game on.

Reunion? No, I don't mean Sephiroth! ((OOC)) [25 Sep 2006|04:41pm]

While speaking with Dana, and as a result of some comments in the last post here, we thought it would be fun to actually get some of the older LARPers together for a game during Halloween. If such a game is going to be organized for Halloween, it will need to be organized soon to insure people can make it.

Here's a list of questions that I've come up with that might be useful in figuring out what (if anything) we'd like to do. Please ask more if you think of anything else:

Do we want a "reunion" game, to bring former players together?

If so, what game should we play? (Vampire, Changeling, Werewolf, cross-over, non-WoD, etc.)

If Vampire, should/can we play within the current continuity of the Galesburg by Night game?

When should this game be planned?

Who, at Knox, is willing to reserve the space for it?

Who will run it?

Should the game be invite only or open to the public?

Flickr Group [11 May 2006|10:26am]

I was surfing around on Flickr this morning and decided that the Knox LARP deserved a Flickr group. You guys can choose to do nothing with it if you'd like; however, it's there for you to post your pictures from game to, if you'd like. Flickr is a free photo-hosting website that allows its members to network with eachother, leave comments on pictures, have discussions, and many other nifty features. So far I've only added four pictures, but I'd love to see it grow and become a valued space within this group.

Enough rambling, here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/groups/knoxlarp/

I hope to see you there!

Hey LARP crew! I, Lauren (a.k.a Kat, a.k.a. Jeanne) will be in the area this summer. I am in desperate need of a game and was wondering who out there would be interested in a summer-long table-top Changeling game. It would meet every week in the afternoon/evening some weeknight. I'd love to get started next week or the week after, so leave me some notes pronto, yo. Or you can IM me through AOL and leave messages there. My screen name is eLfBennu.

Hopefully see you soon!

Minister: "I haven't seen him in a few days, Tom. But I'm sure he'll be here Thursday evening."

Tom: "I know. But I'm a bit worried. Did you see the fellah he talked to last week? Did you see his face, it was all..."

Minister: "Yes, I saw them. But I wouldn't worry abou..."

Tom: "Didn't you see them after the ceremony? They were just sitting out there staring at each other, not makin' a sound, just holdin' their breath. And then he just... collapsed! He just fell over! I tell you, I'm worried about Je..."

Minister: "I'm sure he's fine, Tom. Now go on home now. I'll see you on Thursday."

The Local Boy Scout Troop 66 has been hard at it in community service this year, sponsoring food drives above and beyond the call of duty.

"I don't know what's gotten into those boys, but they sure are active. They've been sponsoring food drives all year for the poor and homeless," stated Parishioner Davis, member of the United Methodist Church which Charters the Troop.

The Troop is also working on several Construction projects in the Community, including ramps for the handicapped community. Scoutmaster Rick Bradley explains, "Well, it's all thanks to our Handicap Awareness Merit Badge Counselor, Mr. Cowsert. He's really brought the boys spirits up and got them motivated to help out in the community. I don't think we can thank him enough."

If you'd like to join or help the Troop, you can contact Rick Bradley at 555-6868, or just show up on Wednesday night at 7:00 for their Troop meeting at the United Methodist Church.

Street Man on Street: Spread the word, I heard the meeting's at 11:00 tonight.
Dealer Tim: You don' know nuthin'. When the time comes fo' a meetin', we all knows it foo'.

A group of five teenagers encountered a monster late Tuesday night in front of Alfano's pizza.

"She just looked like a girl," Ali Carter, 17, reports, "but her face was smeared with blood and her eyes were blood-red, too. We tried to talk to her but then she - it- hissed at us, like an animal or something. And she had these pointy fangs. We all ran. I mean, wouldn't you?"

Police are still investigating the validity of these claims, although the teens all agree on the specifics.

Somebody said they saw some guy preaching on the streets in Galesburg, getting people excited. He said he's felt the Devil's claws on his face and that only God's truth could save the world. He seems to be getting people pretty excited around here.

OOC Question [04 Mar 2004|11:55pm]

I was wondering, even though the ST's don't use this account much anymore, would it be ok if players used it as a rumor mill of their own? As in, rumors we spread amongst ourselves when "spreading the word" about our get togethers?

Police Investigate Possible Violence at Knox

AP Galesburg- Late Saturday night, the 22nd of February, into the early hours of Sunday morning, Knox College was the site of waht may turn out to be a violent encounter. Around 12:30 students leaving the college's snack bar reported seeing and hearing a large explosion outside of Old Main, the historic site of one of the Licoln-Douglas debates. Several minutes later loud "popping" noises, described as gunshots, were reported on the north and north-west sides of the building; facing South Street.
The building was registered for use by a group that uses the building on a regular basis. The school's administration, however, will not release the identity of the group using the building nor the group's reason for being there. While no hard evidence has been collected and the police chief is unavailable for comment, the Common Room has been sealed until further notice.
The police report that when they responded they found no one in the building. The college's adminstration's official response is that a group of party-goers became overzealous in the fraternal celebration. These students shot off fireworks and noise-poppers that took some students by suprising, resulting in the police's involvement. The school would not comment on why one of the rooms in the building had been sealed by the police.
